Dan Stover Music Competition

Every year, talented high school musicians compete in the Dan Stover Memorial Instrumental Music Competition, sponsored by the Pasadena Rotary Club. The competition is open to high school seniors.

Winners of the competition qualify for educational awards to help them further their studies at an accredited college, university, or music conservatory upon high school graduation.

Following the Club competition, winners of the Pasadena Club competition and other Club competitions compete at the Region and the District level. Cash prizes are awarded at both the Club and District level.

Competition Qualifications and Rules:
A contestant may enter only one time during an annual competition. Contestants are not eligible to enter on multiple instruments.

The contestant will enter the competition performing with a musical instrument. (Only a piano will be provided at the District Conference.)

If needed, the contestant may bring an accompanist of his/her choosing.

The score selection is at the discretion of the contestant. The maximum time limit for the performance is 8 minutes. Judges will deduct points, per their scoring form if the time limit is exceeded. There is no minimum time requirement.

A judging panel consisting of a minimum of three (3) judges will select the winner at each level of competition. All decisions by the judges are final and will not be appealed.
